1.
My Kandinsky 02:21
I keep losing my mother tongue Kissing everyone God chastens. A love four nations tall deepens All your colours, my Kandinsky. Where we hide our secret handshakes Sadness is not fashionable. Nuuk is as big as New York City Like in my dreams, my Kandinsky. My wooden sky has caught on fire From the bright flames we fell into. The sound of your laugh made me call you By her name, my Kandinsky.
2.
Winter Rain 03:37
Winter rain has washed away our past And all we once stood for. I’ll seize the day and get through life’s sieve. Hey There there, Let me help you see things another way And unveil your latent heat A flower to bloom, a heart to be found. Wish me luck, wish me well. Be quiet, be still. Wish me Godspeed And make me promise to come back.
3.
St.Lawrence 04:08
I’ve emptied your glass and called it off. The sun is about to set, or rise, We’ll see. Our feet as heavy as the rain. Snow crackles and street lights are blurred again. I woke up dismantled, disabled, barely alive But all the things you’ve left here Remain untouched : - an idea you had - a broken dream - our common ground - that heart you had stolen - some unanswered questions In these suburbs, by the St.Lawrence, There’s a field where we’ll dig a hole And bury everything that hurts us. We’ll stay here and see what will grow Or we’ll listen to the wind and hear where we’ll go. From what I’ve learned of cracking the code of love Is that it takes a lifetime to dare to think like a child again. The scars I’m made of will show you I’m finally done dying.
4.
I would, I will, I won’t get through this To appease, to tame what’s screaming in our hearts. We went away from where virtues always Lead to misfortune, As we flew closer to the sun And shed some light on what we’ve become.
5.
Passions clash. Embracing each other. Becoming each other. I was not prepared. From a bridge over the water A truth was found untouched. The river kept it covered. I had drowned into a love that was way too deep For me to handle
6.
Miscou 03:31
Everything comes down to the night sky I gaze upon. A city with no sound. A world with no ground. The words may change, but the pattern remains the same. What you said is true I always long for the wrong thing to do So take me up to the gallows And down the river All the fire in your eyes still untapped The sulfur under my skin still intact I’ll leave and live as I’ll always be Desireless Loveless Free
7.
Helvítis! 03:34
I just called to say this world is full of mistakes, painted with all the names we bestow. Just to say that I won’t miss you tomorrow. I just dropped by to be fed by all your hate Again. And then again, we chase safety under the sheets Or surrounded by some kind of fallen Soviet utopia. You close your eyes and smile As the sea swallows the cape And now we can’t move away. Danger stays close, danger soothes, danger is a friend I thought, As I turn around to face fear And see it disappear.
8.
The city we got lost in won’t give me back all the shivers My hands have sent down your spine. You turn around and grin, as shiny as a midnight sun. Drunk on love. Two strangers in the same bed. And I know we are growing apart. Time flies, time flows. I’ve got a hundred regrets, but you will never be one. Snow is falling Covering the rooftop I lie on When the harvest moon won’t let me sleep I guess I should have told you
9.
I wandered inside myself for far too long. I wandered inside myself and got lost. Looking for your light into someone else’s eyes. I did not understand. You say you will. You always say you will when you only would. It may not happen twice, That’s why I’ll always believe the lies in these eyes, in your smile. An ocean between us has kept me away From your celestial body, Away from the stars I had to steal from your necklace of constellations. I did not understand how precious this was.

Nouvel album

credits

released June 18, 2021

The Modern Sins Rimouski, Québec

Une structure musicale et une prose sans base fixe, donc libre de tout moule, de toute contrainte.

Friendly rock, hand in hand with feelings, without the cheesy side. Somewhere between Winnipeg and Montreal indie scenes, you will find Ontario, and the band's sound, too. A song structure and a prose without boundaries, therefore free from any mould or restraint.
